A couple of weeks back I sported this bright and cheerful beauty on the Sculptresse twitter feed. I shared it on my feed (if you don't already follow me, I'm here) and loads of ladies were just as mad about it as I am. So I was totally thrilled when it arrived for me to try out.
The offering for large cup sizes at most high street and department stores is pretty disappointing. The styles tend to be old fashioned and the options limited, with a standard selection of white, black and beige. However, if you are on the bigger end of the cup size scale and want something exciting, their are some great specialised lingerie brands that are bringing real choice to bigger busted and plus size women. One of the best of these brands is Sculptresse by Panache. Their range, available in band sizes 34 - 46 and cup sizes D - H, offers proper choice. Every seasons sees new ranges of fun, sexy, comfortable and functional bras, with something for all tastes.
Flirtini Balconette Bra from Sculptresse by Panache - Available from Figleaves
Sculptresse's Spring/Summer collection has a lot of bright, fun pieces and this Flirtini (available at Figleaves) is (aptly) the flirtiest and brightest of them all. The combination of the multicoloured leopard print with the fuchsia lace has this super fun, super hot Miami beach vibe, which makes me long for hot summer nights. The animal print section is made of a supportive mesh, pink stretch lace forms the top half of the cup, and the central has a gore has a coordinated cyan bow. You can also get matching briefs (shown below on the model) which fit incredibly comfortably, and are high waisted which is always my preferred style.
Flirtini is a balconette style bra, meaning that it has a three quarter cup, gives your boobs a great, rounded shape. It is also good if, like me, your boobs are fuller at the bottom and more 'empty' at the top - sometimes when I wear a full cup bra it looks a bit odd because I actually have nothing to fill the top part of the cup. The Flirtini cup is constructed with three different segments, the bottom is made of mesh with additional support in the wings provided by power mesh - this is super helpful if, like me, your boobs little more fond of your armpits than you would like. The addition of the wings also means that the bra has great coverage for larger boobs. As with all of Sculptresse's bras the straps are a decent width meaning that there is no digging in or rubbing. It closes to the back with a double set of hooks and eyes. It does the trick, but I would like to see Sculptresse try out a three hook and eye version because I think the bands would be even more supportive if wider.
I am wearing the 40E, which fits pretty perfectly. As you can see, the central gore sits comfortably between my breasts and flat against my breast bone. The cup construction does work to give my bust a fuller, rounder shape, without giving me crazy cleavage. When putting on my bras I always make sure to scoop all of my breast tissue into the cup while leaning over, to make sure everything is where it is supposed to be, and that the underwire isn't sitting on any breast tissue (which is both uncomfortable, and can mean some of your tissue starts to shift). Since using this method my boobs have gone up by a cup size, showing you just how much tissue had migrated.
I just think this set is so fun and flirty and hot. And I love that it is available in such a wide variety sizes, and that we are seeing more choice in plus size lingerie. I would love to see Sculptresse producing even more options - baby dolls, garter belts, longline bras etc. What do you think? And what do you think of Flirtini? Is she your (hot, sweet) cup of tea? Let me know below...
