Workwear With Lovedrobe 2: Navy Textured Shift Dress

This is my second post on the joy of Lovedrobe work wear, and I stick by what I said before. Lovedrobe are making comfortable, wearable and attractive work wear, and by adding my own accessory style I feel happy taking them from the office to cocktails.

Statement Beaded Necklace - H&M (previous necklace)

My wardrobe used to be absolutely stuffed to the brim with black clothes. Looking for a specific top in my rather macabre armoire would mean tipping half of my wardrobe on the floor and rummaging for ages, before usually giving up (only to find it the next day). Nowadays I am pretty much a rainbow, and although I still wear black on occasion, I can find it quite draining on my fair skin. But I long for a dark neutral, and navy has comfortably taken its place.

I always thought navy was middle aged dull! But I think it really depends on how you wear it, and what you wear it with. I love this textured shift dress from Lovedrobe because it is smart and classy, but not at all dowdy. Cut with curves in mind I love how the shape has more than enough space for my boobs at the top, draws in at the waist and then is shaped out over the hips again in a skirt that is almost tulip style. The shape is just as good at the back, where the dress pulls in to the small of my back, accentuating that bass. Ha! This size 22 fits snugly but comfortably - if you are on the bigger size of 22 and have bigger boobs or hips than me you might want to size up in this one. The skirt sits well above the knee on my 5'8 frame - a length I rather like.

The simple styles mean I can make these pieces my own with the addition of 'Hayley' jewelry, and change it up with different colour accessories meaning a simple dress can be worn loads. Here I decided to pair it with a multi stranded statement necklace (one from H&M that I've had for a couple of years) largely in primary colour and gold beads, and some bright yellow earrings. This turns a really simple dress into quite and eye catching outfit, and I am looking forward to finding other combinations which will work with the dress too.

This dress is also available in pink, so to see it styled a totally different way, check out Sam's take on it over at Fatty Boom Tatty. I love how she's put together a totally different look! If you didn't read my first post on Lovedrobe work looks, you can check it out here for another awesome office outfit.

What are your go to brands for work wear? Have you tried anything from Lovedrobe lately? Let me know...
