My taste lately has taken a really girly turn. It might be that after living in black most of the winter, I am now ready for the colour and lightness of Spring. It might be this season's obsession with pinks, florals and embroidery. Or it might be that pretty, romantic clothing feels like a wonderful antidote to the rather broken, angry world we seem to be living in right now. It's probably a combo of all the above!
Cerise Vest - ASOS Curve (sold out)
ELVI really knows what they're doing when it comes to texture and fabric. Every season they reinvent some familiar silhouettes with lush new fabric options. This Spring they've recreated their high waisted, hi-lo skirt in a beautiful silvery embroidered lace. It totally works with my current romantic ensemble obsession. From their premium collection, this skirt is delicate and feminine, with the gossamer quality of a fairy's wing (God, sometimes I sound ridiculous). But I do adore it. It's so pretty, and the shimmery overlay contrasts with the bold black elasticated waistband. I ordered the skirt in a 24, which is a comfortable fit, and it sits mid calf on my 5'8 frame.
I am not usually much of a wearer of pink. While I love pink in my living environment, I don't have much in my wardrobe. I really wanted to inject some of this season's hottest shade into my look and so I turned to ASOS. I love ASOS for fashion forward pieces at super reasonable prices. I know what I am buying from them is very rarely an investment, but it's a cheap way to update your look with a few fun pieces.
As I said, pink is everywhere this season. In every hue, and every texture. So I opted for three pink pieces to compliment my new skirt. The camisole, in a size 22, is a deep cerise and features a double strap. Loose, simple camis like this are cool in warmer weather, and great for tucking into a high-waisted statement skirt. For accessories, I went with - you guessed it - PINK! My satin sneakers (also from ASOS) are ballerina pink. They are cute, pretty and practical. And yay for wide fit! These are really reasonably priced, and look gloriously luxe.
Ordinarily I am a big fan of clutch bags, but sometimes you need a big old shopper you can chuck everything in, including the kitchen sink. This bag is kind of a neutral pink shade, meaning it does with a lot of things. It comes with a little detachable clutch so you can pop the essentials in that and not lose them at the bottom of your bag. This bag is cheap and useful, and if you can't already tell I am rather enamoured with it.
So, there are a couple of my fave SS17 trends in one outfit - pink, embroidery and romantic vibes. What trends are you loving? What new look are you wanting to try out? Are you all about pink? Let me know...
I did a little squeal of delight when I first saw this outfit on your IG - you are stunning you utterly beautiful thing!
