Walking On Sunshine: : Marks and Spencer Yellow Tiered Dress

I am currently obsessed with yellow (if I am not wearing pink, you can find me in yellow). And today's plus size friendly dress from Marks and Spencer dress is actual sunshine. It is the brightest, sunniest yellow you can imagine!

The tiered skirt and blouson sleeves have a gorgeous gypsy feel to them, perfect for summer, and the light cheesecloth like fabric is good in the heat. The dress comes with a yellow slip underneath (the dress is pretty see through on its own, but could work as a beach cover up over a bikini or swimsuit), and has buttons down the bodice to under the bust, so you can wear it open (for a little cleavage) or closed. The sleeves have embellished cord draw strings, and they also dangle from the collar. I ordered a size 22. The fit is very relaxed. In fact I could have sized down, and I reckon this dress would fit up to a size 26, but I am glad for the looseness in the summer heat, and it is part of the style of the dress anyway. The tiered skirt falls just over my knee (I am 5'8)

I chose M&S accessories in blue, because I love blue and yellow as a colour combination. The sandals are a dusty blue suede, with cute little tassled embellishments. They are super comfy as they are from the M&S Footglove line. And comfort is a big factor in deciding on shoes for me. I have no time for shit shoes. As my great grandmother used to say "be kind to your feet, they are your most faithful servants". I ordered them in my usual UK size 8, but they are not wide fit and so it was a bit of a squeeze. I would recommend sizing up. To accompany my cute shoes I went for a blue leather cross body bag, perfect for all the essentials, and also with a cute tassel detail.

I have to confess, it's been absolutely ages since I have worn something from M&S. Back when I first moved to the UK I assumed that Marks and Spencer would be my go to store, but the fit just didn't work for me and I was a little disappointed with their selection for over a size 18. Going into a shop and finding that things just aren't available in your size, or into the dressing room and trying to wrestle myself into an ill fitting garment really puts me off (I am sure I am not alone). So I took an extended break from Marks and Spencer. And in the meantime they have seriously upped their game! When the offered to send me something to try, I was thrilled to find that I was overwhelmed with choices. And that the dress I settled on fit like a dream. So I will be spending a lot more time in there from now on. I love it when I discover more options on the high street.

So that's my happy, summery Marks and Spencer find! What do you think? Did it brighten your day? (god I am lame) Do you shop in M&S? Let me know...

  1. This dress with your hair is perfection! Such a lovely shape to it too. I'm pretty much obsessed with all things yellow as it's my favourite colour and I tend to spend most of summer looking like a chuby bumble bee so I must check it out! :) x
