A Few of My Favourite Things: Feat Punky Pins, Self.Love.Brings.Beauty and NicLove

This look is from a few months ago, when the weather was a little more temperate. It is actually something that uni Hayley would have loved to wear - she was a little bit of a colourful boho punk (I know that's oxymoronic, but I'm an enigma. Leave me alone.) A collection of cute, fun pins, a mega body positive t-shirt (I hadn't discovered body positivity yet, god I wish I had), a black tutu and some fabulous earrings. What more does a girl need?!

Plus model and mega babe Felicity Hayward launched her hashtag and associated brand #SELFLOVEBRINGSBEAUTY last year and to date, in my opinion, it is one of the best examples of body positivity and diversity out there. The tag's instagram page is as diverse as it is fabulous, showing so many different types of beauty, with a diversity of age, race, size and gender. Felicity doesn't just talk about this, it is clear she firmly believes it, and is using her platform to showcase all kinds of beauty, all kinds of people and I just love that. And my most favourite thing about Self Love Brings Beauty - the message. It's about how you see yourself, and learning to live with and love who you are. Regardless of perceived flaws or weaknesses. It is the very essence of body positivity, and something I wish it hadn't taken me thirty years to learn (you can read about my journey here), but a lesson I will cherish for the rest of my days.

And so, I beelined to Felicity's stand at this year's Curve Fashion Festival to procure one of her fabulous t-shirts so I could have this motto, this truth, blazoned across my chest. I opted for the pink, because it's cute and I still can't get enough of pink. Bad news - her tees are currently sold out. Good news - she has a whole new collection coming out on the 22nd of November, which includes HOODIES. (Who's excited? I'm excited!!!!!) The perfect Christmas present, with their bright colours and kick ass design.

Music, Glitter, Snacks - I mean, what else do you need?

I am a sucker for a good pin. I mean who doesn't love them? A little message or picture, that you can temporarily attach to your clothes. Wonderful. Plus, I have a special place in my heart for small, easily transported accessories - I mean I have lived in 3 countries and moved 16 times in my life, 7 of those in the last 8 years, as well as spending most of my life travelling a lot, thanks to parents in different cities and families on different continents. And yet there are pins I've had from chilhood that have made it on my varied journey. My latest pin obsession are Punky Pins. They kept popping up on my timeline worn by other bloggers I love and their designs are cute, fresh, relevant and funny. Right up my alley. Then they did a gorgeous body positive collection with Mel Stringer, and I was totally hooked. (They actually do collections with lots of freelance designers, which keeps their designs varied and ever changing). So I was thrilled when they sent me a gift parcel of some gorgeous pins to try. I had the best time decorating my jacket with them (very Hayley, circa 2004) and mixing them in with some of my older pins.

And finally a little honourable mention for these incredible earrings! They are by the lovely Nic of NicLove, and I adore all her beautiful and unusual perspex jewelery. There are spans of pieces on my lust list, all available on Etsy (I mean this Kawaii Pink Bow necklace is to die for), but I opted for these Art Deco earrings first and I just love them! Check out her store for some gorgeous accesories and lovely gift ideas (hint hint!).

I have to say, 2017 loves this look just as much as 2004 one would have, and an excuse to showcase some of the smaller brands that I love. These really are some of my favourite bits at the moment. What do you think? Let me know lovelies...
