Flapping at Sugnall: Gatsby Lady Vegas Fringe Dress in Black and Gold

The lovely lot at Gatsby Lady sent me this luscious plus size flapper dress a little while ago, but I saved if for my trip to Sugnall Hall last weekend because I couldn't think of a better location to shoot it in.

Last weekend I got to hangout with some of my very fave plus size lasses and photographers at the exquisite Sugnall Hall. It was all part of a shooting weekend I organised - basically it's where a bunch of creatives come together (photographers, models, fashion designers / brands, hair and makeup artists) and work together in a collaboration. And we got to do all of this at the most magical house I have ever stayed in. Hopefully in the coming weeks and months I will be able to show you lots of things we shot, but in the mean time I thought I would give you a little sneak peak inside the Chinese Drawing Room (one of my very favourite rooms in the house). However if you are looking for someone to hold a special event, like a wedding or a family reunion, or somewhere to do an amazing photoshoot, you really should check out Sugnall Hall. It is ridiculously beautiful!

Black T Bar Shoes - Evans (similar here)

So here I am in the Drawing Room. These pics were snapped very quickly on the Monday morning (after three full days of shooting - I was totally knackered). So you'll have to excuse the fact I didn't move around a lot. You will also have to excuse the fact that I was so knackered that I didn't realise I hadn't put the black slip on under this dress. Which I am kinda pleased with. It never ocurred to me before that I could wear it without the slip. But here I am in my nude bra and my nude contral pants, and I am kinda liking the nude allusion and how much lighter the dress looks without the black slip underneath - I do love it when a cock up works out!

I always size up in Lady Gatsby (you can read my first review of them here) and so here I am wearing a size 24 which works really well, and I may well have been able to get into my usual size 22 but I like having a bit of room to play with in this sort of a style. The dress is heavily sequined and patterned with black and gold beads. The fringing to the bottom of the skirt means it has gorgeous movement and looks authentic and incredibly luxurious. It comes with a gorgeous embellished headband which I love.

What I adore about Gatsby Lady is that their dresses really are vintage resproduction done well. There is nothing that looks like fancy dress here. These are certainly dresses for special occassions, and I think the quality is incredibly high end. And really impressive considering the price.

I paired the dress simply with the headband, and some plain back T-bar heels - it really doesn't need anything else. Now someone PLEASE throw a Gatsby themed party so I have a reason to wear it... Oh okay, I will then!
