Where I Shop

One of the reasons I first started reading blogs was because I was new to the UK and didn’t know where to shop. So I thought I would put together a ‘Where I shop in the UK’. This is not yet exhaustive, but I will keep adding to it. Let me know it you think I am missing something obvious here.

Asos Curve
Sizes: 14 – 30
Asos Curve offer fast fashion at reasonable prices with free delivery and free returns. If you are trying out online shopping for the first time this is a good place to start. It's a good idea to order a few sizes in when figuring out the fit. For example I vary between a 20 and a 22 depending on the style. They offer fast fashion and so from season to season their collection can differ a lot but there is usually something for everyone.

The Big Tights Company
Sizes: 22 – 42
Shopping for hosiery as a plus size lady is a bloody nightmare, but The Big Tights Company have a great (and growing) selection of tights, stockings, hold ups for plus sized gals – good quality and great fit. I tend to size up because I am tall, so I need the extra space.

Sizes: 28D – 40L
Bravissimo is the home of bras for busty ladies. A large range of beautiful and functional bras for big busts. You can order online, of course, but the fitters in store are absolutely brilliant and so I usually make my purchases in store. Remember not to assume you know your bra size - get fitted often.

Sizes: 6 – 22
Collectif is one of my favourite go to places for fifties pin up styling. I love all their clothes but my personal favourite are their Dolores Doll dresses and Freddie cardigans. Dolores Dolls are super roomy so could probably fit up to a 24. In my opinion Dolores is the perfect pin up starter dress.

Sizes: 14 – 32
The biggest plus size retailer on the High Street, it's great to be able to walk into a store and try things on. And I can honestly say I have never had a bad shop assistant in there. I struggle with separates, and Evans is one of the few places I can always find tops and trousers. Their collection of jeans are my favourite - lots of shapes and sizes. With my wide feet I find them great for boots and shoes too. Evans also stock a growing collection of brands from exciting plus size designers, meaning the choices they offer are now even greater.

Lady Voluptuous London
Sizes: 14 - 32
The plus size sister of Lady Vintage London, designed by queen of plus size vintage Georgina Cox, these dresses are perfectly styled for fuller figures. The entire range is gorgeous, but my own personal faves are the Lyra, Estella and Phoebe. I size down in most of their styles - I am a 20 in the Lyra and the Estella, but make sure you size up in the Phoebe.

Lindy Bop
Sizes: 6 – 26
Lindy Bop offer gorgeous vintage styling at really reasonable prices. If you're looking to have a go at pin up dressing you can try a couple of dresses from Lindy Bop without breaking the bank. And there are loads of reviews online to help you with your choices. My personal favourites are Lana and Ophelia, and I wear both in a size 22.

Sizes: 12 – 32
A great brand for dresses, particularly if you are looking for something with a little bit of lace or a little extra sparkle. Great for a night out, I love the fact that they do shorter, above the knee dresses. Not something easy to get your hands on in plus size. I am a size 22.

Sizes: 8 – 22
Monsoon goes up to what I would describe as a roomy size 22. I tend to shop there in the sale as they're quite pricey, but the plus side is the dresses I buy there always last forever and are pretty timeless. They're also good for coats up to a size 22.

Sizes: 16 - 32
I find New Look's Inspire range great for basics. They do great jeans, jumpers, jackets and coats, tanks and tees. Their clothes are reasonably priced, and while you don't often find Inspire in store, they run quite true to size so ordering online is not a hassle.

Simply Be
Sizes:10 – 36
I actually only recently started shopping with Simply Be and I love the range of plus size collections they offer. When I am not rocking the pin up look they have loads of alternatives. I love their vast range of dresses. Now that they have a store in Oxford Street I am thrilled to be able to try things on. Generally I find them pretty true to size.

Studio 8
Sizes: 16 – 24
Studio 8 is relatively new, and a sister brand to Phase Eight. They are a High End High Street brand and my go to for occasion wear and good quality work wear. They do classic, timeless chic really well, but I'd really like to see them expand their size range and start catering for the upper end of plus size too as there are lots of ladies crying out got this sort of stuff.

Scarlett & Jo
Sizes: 14 – 32
One of a handful of brands currently really listening to their plus size customers, S&J are now stocked by several big plus size retailers and also have just launched their own website. Scarlett & Jo have put a modern spin on vintage styling, and use beautiful fabrics like heavy weight printed jersey, stretch velvet and loads of lace.

Voodoo Vixen
Sizes: 14 - 26
Voodoo Vixen make unique and beautifully detailed vintage reproductions, and their plus size collection is small but perfectly formed. I have a few gorgeous dresses and emboridered cardigans, and they are some of my favourites in my wardrobe. Sizing can be a little tricky and tends to run a tad small, and I wear a range of sizes so make sure you check the sizing guide and online reviews if you are unsure. Available online, delivery is free.

  1. Where I Shop is a problem many women want to know. It is good to share such resources where they can try. You are such an amazing person to share this detail for the women searching for the best sites for online shopping. I saw people buy assignment uk to learn more on the ideas that help them to find more places like this.

  2. If you are going to purchase any product, you should focus on quality not cheap price because quality products are durable. Coursework writing services.

  3. Hmm, my sister was looking for brands where she could shop according to her style, and I think this post will guide her well. This looks good to me – I am sharing the link with her, and well, I have to continue with my work – I was providing help with dissertation to a client of mine… so I have to get back to it.
