Recently the lovely folk at Simply Be sent me along some pieces from their Spring releases to try. I am shopping more and more at Simply Be. Their range just gets more exciting and diverse season on season, and there is so much from them on my wishlist right now. Right at the top was this gorgeous, vintage inspired dress.

I arrived to meet Beth a little frazzled. I'd gotten lost on my way to the personal shopping suite, and so had pretty much taken a full tour of Selfridges at this point. A good reminder that department stores of this nature actually stock very little in my size.

So you want to write a blog! You've got an idea that's been bouncing around in your head for a little while, and you're ready. Well you lucky little fish, what perfect timing, because here I have just written a pretty full on post all about what I think you need to know to start blogging your little ass off! This post is based entirely in my own experience, both as a fledgling blogger (I've been going for a year, and what a year it's been!) and as someone who has been working in communications, PR and marketing for a while. Look, it's pretty lengthy, but I've tried to break this post up into sensible chunks so you know where you are, and so you can come back to it at later stages and find what you are looking for pretty quickly (Bookmark this puppy for easy reference). So go make yourself a brew, get comfy, and start reading. There's quite a bit to get through.

Since their launch last year, I have been a big fan of Lady Voluptuous, the plus size brand from Lady Vintage London. The joy of this brand is that for their key designs they worked with plus size blogger and super babe Georgina from Fuller Figure Fuller Bust, who knows what we bigger ladies love and what we look for in the perfect pin up dress. Their Lyra is pretty much my favourite every day dress , which I wear all the time. But I love the Phoebe style for its gorgeous pin up shape and bold patterns.

Some of my plus size blogger sisters are just killer at layering, but it's never something that has come particularly naturally to me. I tend to throw on a dress and a cardi, identify some key accessories, and run out the house. So when the lovely folk at Pink Clove wanted to send me some pieces from their AW collection, I decided to get some stuff that would work well for layering.

January is always a tough month. Every year I swear I am going to book myself a nice long holiday somewhere sunny , and every year I fail to do so. So I am not sorry to see the back end of this month, but outfit wise it's been pretty awesome, so I thought I'd show you what I've been wearing...

One of my favourite things about blogging is the messages I get from lovely readers. Sometimes they are messaging just to show their support, other times its with questions and queries, or just to tell me their story or how something I may have written has resonated them. I get quite a few messages from woman wanting to ask me about trying out the pin up style. And I never send a reply without including a glowing recommendation of Collectif's Dolores Doll dress. This is my perfect pin up girl starter dress, and I am about to tell you why...

From the moment I came across Voodoo Vixen they stood out for me. A lot of vintage repro brands are very samey. They're all halter necklines and polka dots, the only thing different being the label. Now these are all perfectly serviceable but there are not that many UK companies doing vintage in a unique way. And only a handful of those that are actually sell plus size.

Since I realised my true bra size, I have dived head first
into the land of fuller figured (and fuller busted) lingerie. One of my very
favourite brands is Panache. Having been introduced to them from the very
beginning, even though I went up several sizes I haven’t had to compromise at
all on cut, style or print. In fact thanks to their plus size brand Sculptresse
my lingerie drawer is now more exciting than it has ever been before.

Studio 8, sister brand to Phase 8, only released their first collection for AW last year, but they have already established themselves as some of my firm favourites in the world of plus size fashion.

Phew, what a year! I can't believe that Curves n Curls is celebrating it's first birthday! Woo hoo! It's been an exciting and busy year, and writing this blog has given me amazing opportunities, taking me to interesting places, and meant I've met some fabulous people along the way. Reading back on my first post, I am pleased that my little blog is still managing to do most of what it set out to do and that I haven't strayed too far from my original vision for this little corner of the internet. So much has happened this year I couldn't possibly hope to sum it all up (and I have already written and lost this post once!) but I thought it would be nice to write about a few of my highlights from my very first year of blogging.
Also, keep reading throughout January, as I am going to be doing a giveaway each week, with some of my favourite brands including Panache, Voodoo Vixen, Studio 8 and Avene.

My favourite prom skirt, from a previous collection
Today I am absolutely delighted to announce that I am the newest brand ambassador for Scarlett & Jo! I am really excited to be associated with a body positive brand who prioritise listening to their customers, and engaging with the plus size community, rather than assuming what women might want from fashion. So, I am pretty thrilled to be on board!
