What I've Been Wearing Lately...

It's been about 6 months since I have done one of these round ups. I have been pretty busy job hunting as I am finally ready to go back to work. And so the blog has had to take a bit of back seat, while I dealt with real grown up stuff (lame). That's not to say I don't have some exciting blog stuff coming up (more on that in the coming weeks), but just that I probably haven't been creating as much content as I would have liked, particularly over the last month. But I have still been getting dressed (on occasion - still mainly PJs) so here's what I have been wearing lately...

Green Jelly Peeptoe Pumps - Crocs (old)

I had an absolutely brilliant time at Pride in London. I haven't been in a few years, and I had almost forgotten what an uplifting and positive celebration this is. Just so much joy and love. Acceptance and revelry. Brilliant! I wanted to be comfy, but still look cute - so I chose the Elaine dress from Studio 8. I have it in pink and green, but I was really feeling the pink. It's so summery and bright. For a long time I stayed away from bright, cerise pinks - for some reason I thought this shade made me look fat. Um, well, I am fat. And I don't think it makes me look any fatter than anything else. It's always feels good to put nonsense like that behind you. I accessorised with my super comfortable green jelly crocs (yes crocs - I bought them 2 years ago in the states, I don't think they were ever available here), some serious amounts of face glitter, and my gorgeous bespoke flower crown from Crown and Glory. Nothing subtle, because at Pride, More is certainly More.

In late June, I spent a Sunday at a local food festival in Croydon (I love that there is always something random to do in London). It was a great blend of hipster bourgeois pop ups, and old fashioned hearty street food. For sheer comfort (I am pretty much always about comfort) I wore my most summery Lyra (it was a gorgeously sweltering day) with some chub rub shorts underneath, and my fave crocs again (I know, the shame! But look how cute they are!).

Summer Bouquet Phoebe Dress - Lady Voluptuous (sold out, similar here)
Ribbon Sash - Old
Oxblood Pumps - Evans (previous season)

Since Lady V London first launched their plus size range, Lady Voluptuous, a couple of years ago, I have been a mega fan. Lately they sent me a couple of dresses. The beautiful Ursula swing (which I reviewed a few weeks ago), and this Phoebe dress. I have a few Phoebes in my wardrobe, but I haven't worn them in a while, and forgot just what a lovely silhouette they have, and with their built in petticoats, they are so easy to wear.

Pink Cami Top - Asos Curve
White Cropped Cardigan - Primark
Footglove Rose Gold Sandals - Marks and Spencer

Every year I eagerly anticipate the release of the Cut for Evans collection. This year the chosen collection is fun, whimsical, and girly. My favourite piece is this high waisted A-line skirt, covered in scrawly, sweet illustrations in bright colours. Love it.

Pink Wide Fit Satin Sneakers - Asos (similar here)

This tunic is another piece from the Cut for Evans collection, and I reviewed it here.

I cannot get enough of yellow this summer. I want everything to be yellow! I have already written a pretty full on review of this beauty, which you can read here.

Black Pentagram Harness - Etsy (similar here)
Oxblood Pumps - Evans (previous season)

The more I read wear dress, the more I love it. I love a maxi, I love the button detail down the front (I think it gives it a bit of sexiness), I love the fact that it has a high slit up the front. And with the addition of the harness underneath (I bought this pentagram harness a few years ago on Etsy) the whole look is given a bit more... va-va-voom. I feel every inch the sex kitten!

Emerald Green Beads - Thrift Store

Another City Chic maxi dress that I just love. You can read my full review here.

Chloe Jeans - Simply Be (currently unavailable)
Green Jelly Peeptoe Pumps - Crocs (old)

This kimono from Elvi is one of my absolute fave things I have laid eyes on this summer. It's a silky fabric, that almost looks like a Monet watercolour, and is perfect for cooler summer days. I paired it with my Chloe Jeans from Simply Be (I love how they fit!), and a white tank top underneath. Perfect!

Chloe Jeans - Simply Be (currently unavailable)

As the temperature dipped a bit in July, I was back in jeans quite a bit. As I said above, I am loving these Chloe jeans from Simply Be. The fit is pretty much perfect (I am wearing a size 24 - making room for my tum), and I love that they are tight all the way along my legs (well except for my stupidly thin ankles, which are always too small for anything). This top from River Island is loose and easy to wear - a good casual outfit.

Peep Toe Block Heels - Evans (previous season)

I am interviewing for jobs at the moment, and rediscovering my professional side, after almost a year of not formally working. I wore this tunic dress from Studio 8 to an interview last week, and felt professional and comfortable. I love the print, which looks almost like an ink blot, and the fact that come winter it will be perfect over leggings.

So that's what I've been wearing lately. Hopefully soon life will go back to a normal routine of work and play. What's your favourite look? What have you been up to? Let me know...

  3. I like your curly hair. You are looking so cute in these dresses. I want such curly hair too but I am not getting enough time to go parlor and take the look as I want. I am in dire need of University Assignment Help UK to get me time.
