I’ve been branching out a little more lately, and experimenting with new silhouettes in my wardrobe. Instead of always defaulting to skater style or fit and flare dresses, I have been trying out tunics and shifts, which have a straight fit. I’ve been looking at new fabrics, and challenging myself to mix it up a bit in the wardrobe.  It’s good to take chances and try something new every now and again, to keep your style fresh. I am always wary of fashion ruts, and developing beliefs that certain styles are off limits to you. This is a particular risk with plus size fashion, as everyone from magazines, to ‘experts’, to brands seem to spend a lot of time policing plus size women on what they may and may not wear.

I am a sucker for statement pieces – bold prints, bright colours, crazy embellishments. Loud! Sometimes I am really bad at picking basics because I am a magpie and get distracted by all the shiny, fun colour. What I love about Studio 8 is that their collection always has some killer statement pieces that I am drawn to immediately (like this green lace loveliness from AW, or this structured nautically inspired dress I reviewed a few weeks ago) but they also nail the basics. And sometimes a chic, simple piece is exactly what you need! Something you can make your own, and match your mood with.

I am such a fan of the Big Tights Company. Pantyhose, tights, holdups can be a nightmare for the plus size lady - particularly a tall one. So, finding quality plus size tights, holdups and pantyhose has been a revelation! So when they asked me if I wanted to try their lace edged vest and knickers combo I was excited to give them a try, and see if they lived up to the high standards of comfort and quality I'd come to expect from the Big Tights Company.

I love instagram. From a blog perspective, it is the social media platform I am most comfortable on for sure. And if you love fashion, or are starting your body positive journey it is a great place for inspiration and sisterhood. I follow a thousand odd accounts on Instagram, but there are some I check regularly, and am a bit stalkerish about. These are 8 of them...

Back in April I went for my second shoot with the incredible Velvet D'Amour from Volup2. My first shoot with Velvet was (and I'm not overstating here) life altering. I wrote all about it at the time so if you haven't read it already do go give it a read now.

My Month In Outfits: What I Wore In April

A quick run down of some of the outfits I wore in April...

When the lovely Janet from Lucille's contacted me about trying out her personal shopper service I wasn't sure what to expect. I usually have pretty strong ideas about what I will and won't wear, and don't ordinarily find myself needing help in that area. But then I thought about the amount of weddings I have on this year, and that it would be super helpful if someone could help me put together one of those outfits. You can read about the completely different wedding look I put together with Evans here). Also, I am often contacted by lovely readers who say they could really use some shopping help, or that they'd love to try out the vintage style but aren't sure where to start. So I figured it would be great to see if there is a (free) service out there which could help. I am pleased to say that there is one!

I spent Saturday being photographed in underwear. That is a sentence I never thought I would say! But thanks to body positive brand Mymilla, and a bevvy of other body positive beauties, I did it! I DID IT! And I can't believe how scary it was (hello! this is just a body) and how empowering it was. And how beautiful our bodies are, when we realise that there is no right or wrong way to have a body!

I love babydolls. They are my favourite piece of lingerie. So when I saw that Panache had brought out this beautiful red cerise version of their sweet Kali style I was excited. Red makes me feel powerful, and I am a sucker for little hearts, and that paired with the wonderful design of the Kali is a recipe for perfection.
