What's more fun than an end of year round up? So we still have a little while to go before we head into 2017, but to be honest 2016 was a bit of a fucker for me personally (and for the world, obvs), so I am kinda ready to put this bitch behind me. And what better way than to celebrate my fave outfits from the last 12 months!

Best of 2016: My Fave Outfits from the Past Year

My Month in Outfits: What I Wore In November

It's party season! Over the next few weeks there will be drinks with friends, Christmas lunches with colleagues, ridiculous parties, and loads of festive events! I love how many excuses there are to dress up this time of year, and if I'm getting fancy there is nothing I love quite as much as a special dress. Here I've done a little round up of some of my fave plus size pieces...

Come the holidays we all need a few hard working party dresses in our arsenal. For instant chic vibes I love a little black dress, and the Lexia dress from Studio 8 is all kinds of fabulous. It's a proper showstopper of a dress, complete with flapper fringing and some sparkle.

A bit late this month, because with my holiday (read about what I wore here) and getting back into regular routines again I've been a bit busy! But I love these monthly round up posts (and hope you do too) so decided to still put this one together. October brought with it some proper autumnal weather, and I could feel my palette really change as the weather got cooler. Usually I'm all about riots of colour but for October I was having a full on love affair with black, black and more black. Check out what I wore...

Voodoo Vixen have made another dress that ticks all my boxes! Teal - tick! Peacocks - tick! A bit fancy - tick! Every year I like to find something special to wear on Christmas day. Something pretty and sumptuous and a bit glam. And this year I think I have found the one already!

If you follow me on social media, you may know why I have had a bit of a prolonged absence from my dear blog. I have been on holiday! Finally, got to escape this muddy (but beloved) isle for some real sunshine in the Caribbean. My brother got married on the island of St Lucia and I went out there with a crazy cohort of friends and family to celebrate Rory wedding my new sister, Ryan. A little bit about trip first, but scroll past my rambling if you just wanna see what I wore...

It's been a little while since I have had some pinup repro on the blog, but that 50s look is still my go to style and a couple of months back I picked up this gorgeous Katniss dress from Voodoo Vixen's Plus Size range, Vixen Curve. With it's black cat print and three quarter sleeves I have just been waiting for the weather to change so I could wear it. Feels like autumnal perfection. And joy of joys, this baby has pockets!

Every few years I reread The Great Gatsby. Each time, within its pages, I learn something new about myself, about love, and about the human condition. Gatsby's dreamy soul speaks to my romantic one. The beautiful, transformative power and faith of his love and all that it builds is really one of the greatest stories of all time. The book speaks of longing, desire, excess, love and nostalgia - some of my very favourite topics.

One of the things I love about blogging is I have discovered loads of women with such different style to my own. It challenges me and my wardrobe, but also it just makes me glad that we're all different and that fashion is as diverse as the people who love it. Take my very own blog wife and BoPo babe Lottie L'Amour - where I am all retro, feminine flirtiness, her style is streetwise, quirky and modern. Recently Lottie L'Amour and I decided to set ourselves a little styling challenge. We each picked the other an outfit from Yours Clothing. Something we thought would look good on the other, but would also challenge them a little. Check out what Lottie picked for me...

I've never owned a casual coat. Even more ridiculous, despite living in the madly rainy city that is London I've never owned a rain coat. Basically I just wasn't prepared to sacrifice style for staying dry, ha.  But this cosy yet chic Naomi Parka from Studio 8 has me convinced that sometimes comfort is definitely the way to go.

Metallics are a big trend for Autumn Winter, and I love them because they're a bold, luxury statement and if worn well can be totally sophisticated. You can play it safe with accessories, of you can bring this fab trend into your wardrobe with a statement separate. I love this metallic skirt from ELVI because it's a classic style in an up to date fabric.

My first piece from Studio 8's Autumn Winter collection is this Imani dress. It's got that classic shape that I love in my dresses, but the unusual print and gorgeous colours have meant it's been playing on my mind since I first got a sneak peek of it back in the spring.

I am really drawn to casual black at the moment. When there's a lot going on (as there currently is) then throwing one something black and comfortable can help you feel effortlessly chic when you've not had much time to think about what to wear.

**Big shout out to my beloved blog wife Lottie L'amour, for taking these pics of me with her sparkly new camera. What a babe! Go check her out! **

The shirt waist dress is a pinup staple. And I just don't have enough of this style in my wardrobe! But the lovely Lottie L'amour had a Matilda from Lindy Bop going spare, and was kind enough to.send it to me as a little gift! It's so cute - the polka dots and vintage vibe make me wanna wear it to a fun fair and eat some candy floss. (I can't explain where these things come from, they just occur to me.)

I'm always a fan of romantic styles, and had been eyeing this Simply Be dress in 'Dusky Berry' lace for a while. I love dresses that are versatile and can be used day to night. The romantic style of this pretty piece makes it a perfect date dress too.

A lot of supposed style tips just need chucking straight out. Like "fat girls can't wear white". Um, are you kidding? Come summer, there are few things quite as pivotal to your seasonal wardrobe as a white dress. This summer I totally fell in love with this romantic dobby cotton summer dress from Simply Be.

Elomi are one of my go to lingerie brands for fuller busts. Their bras are well designed, and they carry a varied selection of prints and styles. So I was thrilled when they asked me if I would like to review some of their swim wear this summer. I decided to go for the Wild Thing swim bra, because I can't resist animal print at the best of times, and when it's metallic I'm sold!

So this is my very first swimwear post! I first took some tentative steps into the world of the 'fatkini' last summer - the first time I had worn a bikini since I was about 7. Since then I have been super excited to try some Curvy Kate swimwear, as two of my best busty bloggers Caroline of Curvy Wordy and George of Fuller Figure Fuller Bust swear by them. And so when Curvy Kate sent me the Atlantis Deep Sea set to review I was over the moon. This called for some styling help to create blog photos with some serious Ariel realness.

I was so excited when the email announcing the Playful Promises Curve collection dropped into my inbox. Playful Promises is a London based lingerie brand, with a definite nod to vintage styling, and a sophisticated take on sexy. I have long coveted their pieces on some of the smaller lingerie bloggers I followed, so when I saw they were reproducing some of their collection in bigger sizes I was thrilled!

I love it when firm favourite styles are released in alternate colourways at the start of a new season. The minute I saw Elomi’s latest vibrant Kingfisher colourway for their Anoushka style I wanted it! This fresh take gives a new lease on life to an old favourite, with an instant update.

I am always pleased to discover new plus size lingerie brands. There are a proliferation of D+ cup brands these days, but there are still not that many options for larger band sizes. I was recently contacted by Parfait lingerie and asked if I’d like to review some of their pieces. On visiting the website, I was pleased to find that Parfait offer some really servicable everyday basics, along with some more stand out show stopper pieces. I browsed for quite a while, and thought I should perhaps err on the side of sensible. But me being me, I instead opted for something a bit of wow factor.

Simply Be was the first plus size brand I was really introduced to in the UK. My mum has always been a fan of catalogue shopping, and when I went to her place I would flick through the Simply Be catalogue bending down the corner of the pages I wanted stuff on. Lots of fantasy shopping back when I was too poor to do any actual real shopping. In the past few years especially I have found that the Simply Be fit has improved loads and every season there is more and more I want to wear. My brother is getting married in the Caribbean in November, and so I am constantly on the trawl for gorgeous summery pieces to take with me, and I was having a little wander through their website this weekend and found some awesome stuff. As I haven't done a lust list in a while I thought I would put some of my fave pieces from Simply Be together for you guys...

I first fell in love with this Voodoo Vixen dress over 18 months ago, on my very first trip to their website. But I have total dress attention deficit disorder. Somehow it slipped of my radar, and then I just got distracted by something else pretty and shiny. However, Voodoo Vixen had a stand at Curvy Con and I saw this little Emerald beauty again and just had to have it!

The annual Cut for Evans collection is usually pretty exciting. Each year Evans runs a competition for recent fashion graduates to design a catwalk inspired plus size collection. The collections are daring and different and always worth checking out. This year Gabriella Seal won with her festival inspired collection, and I love the boho vibes that these pieces are giving off. You can check out the whole collection here, but I was particularly taken with The Cut Denim Dress.

Come summer I am always on the hunt for a couple of statement maxi dresses. Cool, easy to wear and fabulous on plus size figures, I live in maxi dresses in the warmer weather. This year the casual maxi that's stood out for me is this Bardot version from River Island Plus.

A few months ago the online plus size community was abuzz with the news that fast fashion high street giant River Island was finally introducing a plus size line. The growing power of plus size fashionistas is being noticed by the trendiest of the high street retailers, and our choices are growing. Plus size women are now offered a wider variety of fashion options and looks - a far cry from the tunics and cartoon printed hanky hem tees of ten years ago!

You may have noticed. I rather love getting dressed up. I'm a big fan of putting on my best. So I was super excited when Studio 8 asked me to come with them to Ascot, as part of a series of posts I was doing for them on occasion wear - check out my previous summer event looks here and here.

Every time the team at Studio 8 invite me to view their upcoming collections I fall in love with something. This time last year I went to see their upcoming AW pieces and fell head over heels for the Green Yvette Lace dress. Then just before Christmas I went to see what they would have in store for us in SS16. Despite it being a rainy, miserable day and me being bundled up in a coat and scarf, this silk maxi in brilliant green was a promise of summer glamour. I have pretty much obsessed about it since I saw it, and have bugged the team over at Studio 8 on a monthly basis to find out when it was hitting stores. As part of my series of posts about SS occasion wear I am going to show you how I would style this dress for a summery wedding.

This is the first of three posts I am doing with Studio 8, to show you some occasion wear looks for the upcoming season. Summer is always full to bursting with excuses to dress up. Days at the races, at my age every season sees a glut of weddings (I have four this year), regattas, garden parties, work functions. It’s a bit nonstop. Not only does my liver usually take a bit of pounding (you know what I’m talking about!), but my wardrobe works extra hard too.

How beautiful is it when do of your favourite things collide, to make a new super duper amazing thing? This Spring that happened when Collectif released their Mermaid Print Dolores Doll Dress. I let out actual squeals of delight when I saw it for the first time. The colours were right up my alley, I’ve had a mermaid obsession since Ariel, and Dolores is my perfect dress.

I fell in love with this tutu when I first saw it at UK Plus Size Fashion Weekend last year. American brand Society Plus brought a selection of their pieces to the event, and the tutus just wowed me. I’ve been branching out a little more lately, and experimenting with new silhouettes in my wardrobe. Instead of always defaulting to skater style or fit and flare dresses, I have been trying out tunics and shifts, which have a straight fit. I’ve been looking at new fabrics, and challenging myself to mix it up a bit in the wardrobe.  It’s good to take chances and try something new every now and again, to keep your style fresh. I am always wary of fashion ruts, and developing beliefs that certain styles are off limits to you. This is a particular risk with plus size fashion, as everyone from magazines, to ‘experts’, to brands seem to spend a lot of time policing plus size women on what they may and may not wear.

I am a sucker for statement pieces – bold prints, bright colours, crazy embellishments. Loud! Sometimes I am really bad at picking basics because I am a magpie and get distracted by all the shiny, fun colour. What I love about Studio 8 is that their collection always has some killer statement pieces that I am drawn to immediately (like this green lace loveliness from AW, or this structured nautically inspired dress I reviewed a few weeks ago) but they also nail the basics. And sometimes a chic, simple piece is exactly what you need! Something you can make your own, and match your mood with.

I am such a fan of the Big Tights Company. Pantyhose, tights, holdups can be a nightmare for the plus size lady - particularly a tall one. So, finding quality plus size tights, holdups and pantyhose has been a revelation! So when they asked me if I wanted to try their lace edged vest and knickers combo I was excited to give them a try, and see if they lived up to the high standards of comfort and quality I'd come to expect from the Big Tights Company.

I love instagram. From a blog perspective, it is the social media platform I am most comfortable on for sure. And if you love fashion, or are starting your body positive journey it is a great place for inspiration and sisterhood. I follow a thousand odd accounts on Instagram, but there are some I check regularly, and am a bit stalkerish about. These are 8 of them...

Back in April I went for my second shoot with the incredible Velvet D'Amour from Volup2. My first shoot with Velvet was (and I'm not overstating here) life altering. I wrote all about it at the time so if you haven't read it already do go give it a read now.

My Month In Outfits: What I Wore In April

A quick run down of some of the outfits I wore in April...

When the lovely Janet from Lucille's contacted me about trying out her personal shopper service I wasn't sure what to expect. I usually have pretty strong ideas about what I will and won't wear, and don't ordinarily find myself needing help in that area. But then I thought about the amount of weddings I have on this year, and that it would be super helpful if someone could help me put together one of those outfits. You can read about the completely different wedding look I put together with Evans here). Also, I am often contacted by lovely readers who say they could really use some shopping help, or that they'd love to try out the vintage style but aren't sure where to start. So I figured it would be great to see if there is a (free) service out there which could help. I am pleased to say that there is one!

I spent Saturday being photographed in underwear. That is a sentence I never thought I would say! But thanks to body positive brand Mymilla, and a bevvy of other body positive beauties, I did it! I DID IT! And I can't believe how scary it was (hello! this is just a body) and how empowering it was. And how beautiful our bodies are, when we realise that there is no right or wrong way to have a body!

I love babydolls. They are my favourite piece of lingerie. So when I saw that Panache had brought out this beautiful red cerise version of their sweet Kali style I was excited. Red makes me feel powerful, and I am a sucker for little hearts, and that paired with the wonderful design of the Kali is a recipe for perfection.

There are some dress styles which have become staples in my wardrobe. I revisit them almost religiously when looking to satisfy my shopping urge. Usually I am drawn to styles that work for a variety of occasions and come in a plethora of prints and patters so that even though I own the dress in multiples, it always feels fresh when I wear it. Lyra from Lady Voluptuous is one of these favourites.
