Lingerie and Lace: Parfait Kitty Babydoll and Navabi Lace Trench Coat

Something saucy for midway through lingerie week here on the blog – I paired the simple yet sexy Kitty babydoll from Parfait with the extravagance of my lace trench coat from Navabi. I call this look High Class Flasher!

The Kitty babydoll from Parfait comes in plain black and black and red. As I already have a black and red babydoll in my collection, I decided to opt for the plain black. Kitty is made of a dobby mesh, with oval spots rather than round ones. The cups are double layered, so opaque, while the skirt is just a single layer bordered with a frill at the hem which covers the necessary but not much more. The cups have a pleated chiffon edging, and a large black satin bow with long tails is attached to the central gore.

The skirt on this particular babydoll is a little more form fitting than I am used to. One of the reasons babydolls are one of my favourite lingerie styles is they usually have a built in bra, giving the bust support while the looser skirt section skims over my tummy (an area I am still learning to love). But in keeping with my body confidence tips (see number 9) I am challenging myself to try new things. So a form fitting babydoll was my latest challenge! 

I wore high-waisted briefs underneath for a bit of coverage, and then popped Kitty on.  Sometimes babydolls can be a bit difficult to get on because closing the built in bra can be a harder when the back seam restricts movement a bit. However I got Kitty on with no difficulty (I don’t know about you but I frequently end up puffing and panting, most unsexily might I add, when wriggling into lingerie) and was thrilled with the fit of the bra. I sized down in this style (a 40 E, rather than my usual F cup) but the cups fit beautifully, and were super supportive with the central gore sitting flat against my sternum (making me want to invest in the Kitty bra for my collection). Despite the clinging of the skirt to my generous tummy I was actually quite happy with the look. Posting the photos was a little more difficult than usual -not that posting lingerie reviews is ever not a little daunting. While I am getting more and more comfortable with my body, it stills feels pretty momentous showing off the bits of yourself you deem (correctly or not) to be flaws. 

In some of the pics I paired my new babydoll with the magnificent Elvi lace trench coat (available from Navabi, and currently on sale!). This trench really is one of those dream items. I’m not sure it’s the most practical, after all it is full of holes ha, but it is wonderfully extravagant and makes me feel like a luxury bitch! I may have been having a particularly fruity day the first time I saw this coat but I thought it was the perfect piece to hide a bit of hot lingerie underneath. So that’s what I have done! But this coat is a lovely light layer for more formal summer occasions. The versatile dove grey goes with everything, and the lace is perfect when paired with the iconic shape of a mac. I wore my trench to Ascot, where it was the perfect layer (pictured below with Gok Wan – eeek, fangirl moment!) and got me loads of compliments (unsurprisingly).
