Modern Floral: Floral Prom Dress from Simply Be

Recently the lovely folk at Simply Be sent me along some pieces from their Spring releases to try. I am shopping more and more at Simply Be. Their range just gets more exciting and diverse season on season, and there is so much from them on my wishlist right now. Right at the top was this gorgeous, vintage inspired dress.

This floral prom dress is designed to look like a top and skirt combo, but is in fact all in one. The top is made of heavy duty jersey, the skirt is a really floaty fabric with a net underneath to give its gorgeous shape. I love the fact that it has a vintage silhouette, but is made with more modern fabrics so is a modern rehash of a classic style. The photo floral print is really vibrant, and lifts the black background. It also has loads of colours to pick from for accessorising. Here I am wearing it with some old dark red beads of mine, but this would totally look great with green or pink.

As I have ordered from this brand before I knew that more than likely my usual 22 would fit fine, and it did. Perfectly in fact. I love the fit of the top part, and it is perfectly shaped for curvy girls with the longer sleeves for those who aren't too keen on there arms (and perfect for the cooler weather, as I am not a big fan of long sleeves) plus it features a low, scooped neckline that is slightly sweetheart shaped. There's lots of stretch in the jersey, so I reckon you'd still be comfortable if you were a lot more busty than me. The thick elastic band at the waist draws the waist in nicely, and is thick enough that it doesn't roll over constantly as sometimes happens with thinner waist bands. On my 5'8 frame the full skirt sits properly over my knee so it has some decent length in it.

The first time I wore this out I wore it to work for the day, and then on a date in the evening. I was worried I would feel a bit overdressed for work but it did work in the office, and I felt so pretty on my date. It's such a flattering, easy to wear style and certainly has some romance to it. Alas, the date was not nearly as successful as the dress, and it ended earlier. But on the way home I found the most amazing hot chocolate I have ever had in my life so not all was lost, don't worry! I wore it to work as I wanted to wear it on the date too, but I really think this dress works better for something a little nicer. I would happily wear it on a night out, or on another day, or it would be good at an event like a christening or even a wedding. A very versatile piece. And again - so comfortable!

So, what do you think? How are you finding the selection at Simply Be? What's on your wish list? Let me know below lovelies...

    1. I kinda stay away from pink in my wardrobe, usually opting for blues, greens and reds. But I do love the pinks in this skirt, and I think I just prefer them when they are further away from my face x
