Utterly In Love With Ursula: Lady Voluptuous Ursula Dress in Jade Bouquet

Since Lady V London launched their plus size brand, Lady Voluptuous, two years ago I have been a dedicated fan. The styles are well designed for plus size bodies, and have a timeless vintage quality. Every season they release new colours and prints meaning you can get your hands on updated versions, and I now have a lovely back catalogue of my favourite styles. Lady V recently sent me an Ursula dress to review, and I am rather smitten!

Fuzzy Heart Earrings - Asos (sold out)

The Ursula dress (available in sizes 16 - 32) was initially designed as a wiggle dress, and while I loved the design and the cross over bodice, my tummy is not my favourite feature and so I have very rarely found a wiggle dress I am comfortable with. However the Ursula has recently been brought out in a swing version too, which immediately piqued my interest. The swing style skirt is perfect for hiding my tummy, and I adore the cross over, wide cut neckline. I am wearing a size 22/24. I could probably have gotten into the 20 with a more snug fit across the bust but the looser fit is especially good in hot, sticky weather.

Ursula comes in loads of  bright, cheerful summery patterns and I had a bit of a hard time choosing. But I settled on the Dusty Jade Bouquet print. Jade is a great colour on red heads, and the floral print is vibrant and eye catching. I wore this dress out a couple a of weekends ago, and I got so many compliments on the pattern and style. And I couldn't help but be a little smug about people lusting after a dress that is only available in plus size!

Now I can usually be relied on to overdress a little, so I had no problem wearing this dress to a casual afternoon and evening out to a few pubs and bars. And I think if you pair it with flats and chilled accessories it works well for a low key outing. Add heels, a cute clutch and some fancy jewellery and this would be perfect for a daytime wedding, the races or an afternoon tea. I love versatile pieces like this!

What do you think of the Ursula? Is it a style you'd wear? Have you tried anything from Lady V London before? You can read my review on their Phoebe dress here, and on their Lyra dress here

  1. You look gorgeous as always and that dress is stunning. I've been eyeing them up and I want one of the polka dot ones, but I'm on a spending ban since I'm not working so I will keep admiring them from afar like at you <3
