I have been feeling so girly in the last few months. Which is good because a lot of SS trends are decidedly feminine - lots of pinks, lots of florals, lots of embroidery. All those girly trends have kinda combined in this vintage look from Collectif.

When the lovely Janet from Lucille's contacted me about trying out her personal shopper service I wasn't sure what to expect. I usually have pretty strong ideas about what I will and won't wear, and don't ordinarily find myself needing help in that area. But then I thought about the amount of weddings I have on this year, and that it would be super helpful if someone could help me put together one of those outfits. You can read about the completely different wedding look I put together with Evans here). Also, I am often contacted by lovely readers who say they could really use some shopping help, or that they'd love to try out the vintage style but aren't sure where to start. So I figured it would be great to see if there is a (free) service out there which could help. I am pleased to say that there is one!

From the moment I came across Voodoo Vixen they stood out for me. A lot of vintage repro brands are very samey. They're all halter necklines and polka dots, the only thing different being the label. Now these are all perfectly serviceable but there are not that many UK companies doing vintage in a unique way. And only a handful of those that are actually sell plus size.

What you may not know about me is during the day I am a civil servant, and work for a government department. That means that the last couple of weeks have been pretty crazy, and I've had little to no time to take regular outfit photos. So I figured I would just do a round up of everything I've take lately...
Lyra dress in Teal - Lady Voluptuous
Brown leather heels (old) - Marks and Spencer
While I await the delivery of my two new Phoebe dresses from Lady Voluptuous, I took my fave out for a spin. Especially love it with my big gypsy earrings.
Black suede wedges - Primark
I'm a big fan of a blue green with red. This Lady V dress is another beauty, however it does need a tank top underneath, just cannot be worn without it.
Brown Leather Boots - Evans
Skinny Brown Braided Belt - Primark
Like the freshness of this outfit - feels very seventies which is on trend at the moment (quite unlike me to be en vogue) and I think it works for work even if it is more casual than usual.
Brown leather heels (old) - Marks and Spencer
I have been eyeing this Scarlett and Jo dress for a while. Very similar to another S&J dress I have in my wardrobe, this also has a forties flavour, and loads of lovely details which make it quite special. I will be reviewing this shortly, and it is another dress that I know will become a staple in my working wardrobe. Scarlett and Jo smashing it as per usual! This dress if currently on sale for the ridiculous amount of £15 - go and GET ONE!
Black belt with gold clasp - Primark
I just adore this shot of my beloved Dolores going all Marilyn on me. Too pretty! Another example here of how you can wear 50s styling to work and still look professional.
I've got a review of this dress coming up later this week, but needless to say it is effortlessly comfortable and I feel like it is casual but I don't look slobby or sloppy which is sometimes my issue with casual clothes. Paired with the shades this is another totally seventies look.
What have you been wearing lately?
Have a good week lovelies :)

The first week of proper sun! London was looking ridiculously gorgeous and me and the girls from work took every opportunity to just get out in the sun. Sitting on the river, watching the world go bye is just the best way to decompress for an hour. I could feel my skin just light up with the warmth and vitamin D. Oh summer, you little tease, how we have missed you!
Tuesday
Brown leather heels - Marks and Spencer (old)
The sun came out and so did my legs! Was wonderful to not feel all bound up in tights for a change and feel the air on my skin. It did feel a bit daring having my pale skin on show for the first time in 6 months, but I like the shape of my legs and it just made me feel so summery.
Wednesday
Polly Shirt Dress - Collectif
Mustard cardigan - Next
White and black striped vest - H&M
Black suede wedges - Primark
Black suede wedges - Primark
Another sunny day and more pins on display.I don't wear this dress often enough - every time I do I remember how much I adore it. You can read my review here.

Ditsy heart print prom dress - Asos Curve (old)
White belt - stolen off one of my Lindy Bop dresses
Red Freddie Cardigan - Collectif
Brown leather heels - Marks and Spencer (old)
This dress has a very special place in my heart. It started a wardrobe revolution, and yet of late has been lost at the back of my cupboard. I pulled it out on Thursday and felt as fabulous in it as I did the first time I ever wore it. I am going to be reviewing it soon because despite it no longer being on sale it deserves it's moment in the spotlight. LOVE! (Only in hindsight did I realise how similar this outfit was to Tuesday's - oops!)

Leopard print tank top - Asos Curve
Black cardi - Marks and Spencer
Black jeggings - George at Asda
Black suede wedges - Primark
I am trying to get better at casual wear, but I still have about 2 outfits that I would officially classify as casual wear. And this is one of them. Love me some leopard print, and this is my first foray in the world of jeggings. Unfortunately I am shaped so that while trousers, leggings and the like may fit my tummy, thighs and bum my skinny bloody ankles are often left drowning. This makes it really hard for me to get a true skinny fit. But the search continues for some decent skinny black jeans. Let me know your recommendations...

Black leggings - Primark
Brown leather heels - Marks and Spencer (old)
Cat eye sunglasses - Accessorize
Still feeling summery on Saturday. This shot was taken at about 7pm and it was still sunny! That makes me so happy. I have reviewed this fabulously 70s dress before here.
Sorry I was a bit late this week. Been a busy couple of weeks, with work and dating and trying to have a social life! Need to be slightly more disciplined about my blogging. Have a wonderful week cats and kittens! x

Tuesday
White and black polka dot Dolores Doll dress - Collectif
Turquoise cardigan - Marks and Spencers (old)
The earliest part of this week was pretty tough, so I threw on one of my fave dresses which gives me an instant boost. I used to think white was not a good colour for me - due to my colouring and my size. However now I think it looks pretty great with my complexion, and if it makes me look a bit bigger than the obligatory fat girl black then so be it. Who cares?!
Wednesday
Multi floral print prom skirt - Scarlett and Jo at Evans
Blue tank top and black wedges - Primark
I absolutely adore this skirt. And I particularly love this outfit because it is exactly the sort of thing that I wouldn't have worn a year and a half ago, and now I just love. Gives me a great shape, I adore the colours and the best thing that happened to me last week was a colleague telling me that I looked like a tulip in it. Read my full review of this beautiful skirt here.
Friday
Black bardot neckline tunic with lace trim - Primark
Black leggings and black wedges - Primark
Turquoise cardi - Marks and Spencers
Primark have some great pieces in at the moment, including this tunic with a bardot neckline and frill, edged with black lace. This isn't the best picture so I will try and get another one soon so you can see the neckline better. But it ain't bad for a tenner, so go have a look in your local store.
Saturday
Pink tank top - Primark
Turquoise cardigan - Marks and Spencers
I bought a couple of Rosetta's from Lady V London when they were on sale a few months ago. I love the shape of this dress, and the colour is beautiful. Looking at the neckline I think you can tell that wearing it without a cami underneath is not so much of an option if I want conserve any sort of dignity. Pretty much all boobs and bra without the tank top. But with the cami I think it is a pretty cute look.
